There are a lot of restaurants in Scottsdale, Arizona for sure but only one passes my checklist for health, nutrition and incredible taste, Nourish!

In the photo here is the owner of Nourish, Kirsten Carey and her Executive Chef, Dan Santos. Kirsten’s path to opening Nourish was certainly not typical, especially considering the quality level of her food which is second to none. She left a successful consulting business to open a non traditional restaurant in a tough economy which usually is a recipe for disaster. This story of how Chris Beat Cancer hit me right in the heart as it is almost to a tee how we defeated my mother’s colon cancer.

Watching Chris’s video below took me back 4 years ago when we brought my mother from Boston, MA to Mesa, AZ to begin her integrative alternative cancer treatments. We went to An Oasis Of Healing run by Dr. Thomas Lodi who was a conventional MD from New York who grew tired of watching the devastation of the “cut, burn and poison” method better known as surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. Over the last decade Dr. Lodi has helped healed people at the root cause of their illness rather than treating only their symptoms.

The body is designed to heal itself, we need to support that natural healing and stay out of the way. Surgery causes the cancer to spread, radiation and chemo cause additional cancers as well as accelerating the growth of existing tumors. According to history, one of the world’s most beautiful women, Cleopatra of Egypt, ate Okra, also known as “lady finger or gumbo”. It is characterized by its green color, elongated and tapering ridged pods infused with double row of seeds and slimy texture when cut open. This integral member of the cotton family is indigenous to regions around the Nile in North Africa and the Middle East for it was discovered dating as far as 3500 years ago in Ethiopia. Early Egyptians are known to love its taste. Okra later transcended to North America en route slave trade and then to Europe, Asia and South and Central America. During World War II, the shortage of coffee beans made them use the seeds as a substitute for coffee. This incident made the word “okra fever”.
