No matter where you are in your life, if you want to get to a better place then you need to start with why!Your personal why is so critically important to connecting with your life’s purpose and through that realizing your hopes and dreams.
I’m a perfect example. When I lost my job over 3 years ago when I was in corporate america which was the first time I had lost a job in over 22 years I quickly learned I needed to start with why.
As a result of being out of work, it got me off my “hamster wheel” as I like to call it and reflect on what I was doing with my life. It got me to start with why! I was able through numerous exercises, to really connect with my life’s purpose.
Here Is My Personal “Start With Why” Video And Why It Is So Critical To Finding True Happiness In Your Life
For months after I began the “start with why” project I was coming up with nothing and it was extremely frustrating. Through some visualization techniques I was doing, I kept getting mental images of my mom over and over. Now, you have to understand that my mom is a three time cancer survivor and on her third go around with colon cancer, I helped save her life the natural way.
In seeing my mom’s image over and over, I just thought that meant job well done on helping mom.
What I came to realize as part of my start with why project is that I was meant to go further and help others with the knowledge I had gleaned over the past 12 years that ultimately lead to helping save my mother’s life from cancer.
This filled my heart and soul with purpose and drove me to understand my start with why project on a much deeper level. When you start with why, you ultimately connect with why you were born into this world which is the most amazing feeling anyone could possibly experience in their lifetime. This is going to sound funny, but I truly feel very blessed and grateful for losing my job over 3 years ago. The ironic part of it is, I lost my job right when I found out my mother had cancer for the third time.
When you start with why, you have to find what your true cause is, your purpose, your belief. You have to get to why you exist, why do you get out of bed in the morning, why should anyone care? When you start with why, you become more “compelling” to your audience and people in your circle. You can become a good storyteller when you tell your “Why” with emotion.
Key Callouts From Simon Sinek’s Book Start With Why
When we communicate from the inside out or the Why to the What from the Golden circle pictured above, we are talking directly to the part of the brain that drives behavior - we hit the Bullseye!
I can tell you from personal experience that I wasn’t really living my life and fulfilling my purpose until came face to face with “start with why” and since that time, my life has become everything I ever thought it could be and then some!
When you start with why, abundance is sure to follow, cheers to your success!
