Kombucha is an ancient Chinese drink and its history dates back to over 2000 years and is referred to as the ‘Immortal Health Elixir’. It is a sweetened tea that’s been left to ferment; the bacteria and yeast allow it to reproduce which gives it the appearance of a mushroom. The therapeutic effects of the tea has been proven to fight and prevent cancer as well as arthritis and other diseases. Even though many have testified to this, the FDA still warn people off consuming the tea. Continue reading
High-level executives from some of the U.S.’s largest food corporations are meeting with the FDA behind closed doors this week to lobby for a mandatory federal GMO labeling law. Could it be that bad press and consumer backlash have dulled the enthusiasm of these former biotech cheerleaders? On the other hand, is Big Food just cozying up to the FDA so they can derail the growing organic and anti-GMO movement and finagle a federal labeling law so toothless it will not be worth the ink it takes to sign it? Vitamin D used in a study in people diagnosed with cancer has shown a higher survival rate especially during the warmer seasons as sunlight levels are high. The evidence showed that the rate at which the tumors grow is slowed down. Sunlight can even cause defective cells to self-destruct. According to the study that appeared in the International Journal of Cancer, people suffering from lung and breast cancer with high concentrations in their blood have a higher chance of surviving cancer. Other research conducted at the Creighton University School of Medicine in Nebraska has shown that by supplementing Vitamin D and calcium the risk of cancer can be reduced by an astonishing 77 percent. This includes breast cancer, colon cancer, skin cancer and other forms of cancer. This proves to be the most effective treatment in fighting cancer unlike any other drug in medicine. Continue reading
Contradicting recent studies that showed multivitamin use had little effect upon chronic disease, Harvard researchers have found that multivitamin use over a long period reduces the incidence of many cancers along with mortality.
The researchers conducted a study of male doctors called the Physicians’ Health Study II Randomized Controlled Trial. The study began in 1997 and included 14,641 physicians from the United States. They were 50 years or older at the beginning of the study, and the average age was 64 years old. The study group also included 1,312 men who had previously contracted cancer. The study continued through June 1, 2011. The study was randomized, double-blinded, and placebo-controlled. Continue reading

The Role Of Epigenetics And Nutrition Prior To Conception
Did you know that even before a couple decides to have a baby, their diet and nutrition will determine the destiny of that child and future as an adult? When the ovum or egg leaves the ovary and starts to mature, it carries all the nutritional deficiencies suffered by the mother prior to conception and when it is fertilized, both parents’ nutritional deficiencies will determine the child’s health in later life. If the parents have a healthy diet with proper nutrition prior to conception, their children would be less likely to develop or suffer from common diseases, most of which are inherited. We’ve all heard the phrase, “you are what you eat” but it’s more likely that you are what your parents ate! Epigenetics and nutrition reveals how gene expression can be modified during embryonic development and is directly related to a bad diet or poor nutrition. Continue reading
