I’m Devastated – Youtube Why Did You Terminate Me?

“Update to this post as of March 1st, 2013 – GREAT NEWS! Youtube has reinstated my Channel!!! Thank you for all who took the time and supported me by posting your positive comments that certainly played a huge role in Youtube reactivating my channel!” And Thank You Youtube for doing the right thing!

Within the last 24 hours, I was ‘terminated’ from YouTube with no warning and very little explanation of why. Where my video’s used to appear on my website or by visiting my Youtube channel, a message now appears that tarnishes my reputation. I’m following their procedures and asking Youtube to reinstate my account. I’m also writing this open letter to Youtube for their consideration.

This is devastating news to me personally. I have spent the last 13 years of my life researching cancer, understanding it and learning how to help beat it and prevent it naturally. When I learned of my mother’s first diagnosis of lung cancer some 13 years ago, it drove me to learn as much as I possibly could about this dreaded disease so I could be of help to my mother and many other people. I’m happy to say that my efforts and research paid off. My mother was diagnosed with her third bout of cancer four years ago, this time colon cancer after lung and brain and we beat it naturally! No chemotherapy and no radiation. Unfortunately, a common side effect of cancer patients is blood clots and that is what took my mom’s life a little over 2 weeks ago. We were blessed to have with us an additional 4 years!

The majority of what I share through the video’s I uploaded to Youtube over the last two years was all this knowledge I had gleaned over the last 13 years. These are the things that working people with families don’t have time to research and investigate until unfortunately they are sick and then there isn’t much time. As a result of what happened to my mother and her battle with cancer, I choose to help as many people as possible avoid what she went through and what we went through as a family. Youtube provided me as it provides millions of others a wonderful opportunity to do just that, help people. In one instant I have lost over 70 video’s and 2 million views that were helping thousands of people either get healthy or stay healthy!

It is my hope that this open letter to Youtube will be read by the right person or persons who can fight for me to get my account back. If a mistake was made, it can just as easily be corrected.

Dear Youtube,

First, I want to thank you for what you do. You provide a FREE vehicle for millions of people around the world to see things they would never see, to learn things they would never know about and to meet people they would have never met. You gave me an opportunity to connect with hundreds if not thousands of people personally who I have helped improve their quality of life and in turn they have improved mine through heart warming satisfaction.

Youtube, through your wonderful vehicle, I was able to publish valuable content to many, many people with some of my video’s reaching over 500,000 views and a great number of heart felt comments, feedback from around the world. So, you gave me a great vehicle and I did something very noble with it. That’s a fantastic partnership and one that I would really like to continue!

From the very first video I uploaded over two years ago until the most recent totaling over 70 video’s were published and the subsequent 2 million views and hundreds of comments, you and I had a fantastic thing going at www.youtube.com/RussCurran, I hope you will reconsider reinstating me?

Just 24 hours ago, my family and I were enjoying a nice Saturday evening at home and I came in my office for a brief moment to check a few comments I had received on my then active Youtube channel and there it was, the following message;

Hi RussCurran,

Thanks for your email. Your “RussCurran” account has been found to have
violated our Community Guidelines. Your account has now been terminated.
Please be aware that you are prohibited from accessing, possessing or
creating any other YouTube accounts.

Now, admittedly, that particular video was not about “health tips” or “cancer prevention” and there’s a good reason for that. Publishing good content doesn’t guarantee that millions of people are going to automatically see whatever it is that you publish. Sometimes you need to a little help until you can build up a loyal following and your message gets out to more people. So, I struggled to finds organic ways to reach more people and as I learned these methods, my goal was to help other people do the same. To get their good content out to as many people as possible. So, I made this one particular video off a method I had just learned to help other people. Now, if that one video violated in some way Youtube’s “community guidelines” than I’m truly sorry and I commit to learning how to prevent that from ever happening again in the future.

It was never my intent to damage the the Youtube community and the guidelines within it. I have been very busy working with that community and building it over the last two years!  When I tried to log into my account, it was no longer there and panic set in. All my work, all my video’s, all the connections I have made with incredible people through Youtube were gone!

I take pride in my research and in the video’s I produce. Everything I show on my video’s I have personally done myself and I can back it up with proof. My goal for the rest of my life is helping as many people live a better quality of life than they are living today. If I can help people live with a little less aches and pains, lose a little weight naturally, learn how to exercise properly so it keeps you lean and strengthens your heart, then I have done my job and I believe my video’s demonstrate that.

At the same time, I also understand Youtube doesn’t have an easy job of policing what I believe is the 2nd largest site on the planet, that can’t be easy. And I understand that a lot of people are deceptive and like to take advantage of people and something needs to be done about that. So, if I got caught up in that attempt to rid Youtube of these blatant violators, I can understand that, all I ask is that you look at my Channel, look at my video’s, look at the comments from real people and see the value that was created. I believe by doing that you will see I am not one of those violators.

If I had been given the chance to fix what I had done wrong with the community guidelines, I would have done so in an instant and you would never see them repeated again, I guarantee it!

If I don’t get my account back, I lose those relationships in working with all the people that counted on me and where I was there for them. I don’t want that and I’m sure you can see my point, it would break my heart. I want to continue producing high quality video’s and content to enrich people’s lives because that’s what makes me happy.

I hope Youtube that you see what my life’s passion is and allow me the chance to be heard, I’d love to chat with you.
